Membership class

03 May

Our next church membership class will be the weekend of 3-4 May (Fri 7-9pm w/ dinner provided, Sat 10-12 with coffee & pastries). This two-part class is an introduction to Faith Community Church: who we are, what we believe, and where we’re going. It’s a chance for you to hear all about us, learn why church membership matters, and ask any questions you may have.

The class is required for membership in our church, but taking the class isn’t a commitment to join. So whether you already know you want to join or just want to learn more about us, the membership class is for you. To sign up, please email Jake.

Conference volunteers needed

22 Apr

City to City Europe is a network for European church planters. Faith’s staff usually attends their annual conference. This year it’s in Prague, and our friends at Ta Cesta, including Saša Flek, are helping with the local leadership. We would like to help out by providing some volunteers for the registration desk during 2 time slots:

  • Monday 22 April, 5-7pm
  • Tuesday 23 April, 8am-12pm

Please email Jake if you can help with either or both of these. This is a great practical way to support our sister churches in Prague.

Congregational meeting 21 April

21 Apr

Last fall we had our first round of nominations for officers at Faith Community Church– the men who will lead our church by serving as elders and deacons. These guys went through an in-depth training and evaluation process that was good both for the nominees and for Phil and Jake as we led the class.

Now we’re excited to announce that our oversight commission, the elders who supervise Phil and Jake, are recommending to the congregation that you elect 2 of these men: Bob Kenney as ruling elder and Mike Torres as deacon. The congregational vote is the last of several steps in selecting these leaders. If they are approved, it will mean that once they’re installed, Faith Community goes from being a church plant to a fully-functional, locally-led church. This is a big deal, and a time to be grateful for what God is doing in our church.

The vote, which is just for members of Faith Community, will take place at a congregational meeting 21 April, immediately after worship. If you have questions about what all this means, or the vote in particular, please don’t hesitate to contact Jake.
