Donations for the homeless

We are taking donations of cold-weather gear for Prague’s homeless community during this very cold season. Please bring blankets, men’s underwear, men’s socks, or other items that might be helpful, and we’ll get them to Nadeje ministry here in Prague. There is a box for these items in the church lobby each Sunday.

Children’s ministry coordinator

We are looking for someone who feels called to serve as our children’s ministry coordinator. Your role would be to plan and coordinate the education, fellowship, and worship opportunities for children ages newborn through sixth grade (approx. age 11). The time commitment would be about 5 hours per week, and we would offer you a small stipend for this vital role at the church. Current sermon series: Romans

In February we’ve started a new sermon series on the book of Romans. We’ll spend much of 2012 looking at this New Testament letter, taking a short break in June and finishing in November.

Why is one book worth 9 months of our church’s time? For one thing, it’s the most detailed, systematic explanation of the Gospel that we have in Scripture. Romans is the apostle Paul’s magnum opus, his introduction of himself and his teaching to a major church he hasn’t yet visited. Paul covers the basics of Christianity– why we need a Savior, why Jesus’ death can save us, and how God applies that salvation to us– and then wades into deeper waters like predestination and the end times. He also explains how important these things are to our daily life, and what it looks like to live as God’s redeemed people.

So Romans is a book with something for everyone: an explanation and defense of Christianity, an exploration of several important biblical themes, and application of those truths to life in the world as believers. We believe this season of studying it up close will help build our church on the solid rock of Jesus Christ and his Word. Join us!
