Our Mission

Faith Community Church seeks to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the international community of Prague by being transformed ourselves, and transforming each other and our city for our good and God’s glory.

Our Vision

To be a reproducing church that is focused on expanding the kingdom of Jesus Christ through intentional, relational outreach and personal discipleship.

What We Believe

No matter what you believe, you are welcome to join us for worship. Here is a summary of what our church believes.

We Are Evangelical

“Evangelical” comes from the Greek word evangel, “gospel.” By “evangelical,” we mean that we believe strongly in the gospel and try to keep it central to all we do.

Here’s a brief summary of what we believe about the Gospel:

God is holy.

The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man. The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. (Psalm 11:4-5)

People are sinners.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Jesus died to make atonement for sinners.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

We are saved through faith in what Jesus has done.

[W]e have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified. (Galatians 2:16)

There is a real heaven for those who trust in Christ, and a real hell for those who do not.

And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. (Matthew 25:46)

We also believe the Bible is the Word of God. As such, we believe Scripture is:

Necessary. We need Scripture in order to understand the Gospel, to grow spiritually, and to know God’s will.

Authoritative. The Bible is the ultimate and final authority on all matters on which it speaks. We believe Scripture is inerrant, meaning that it does not affirm anything that is contrary to fact.

Sufficient. The Bible tells us everything we need to know about God and how we are to relate to him.

We Are Christian

We hold to the historic Christian faith expressed in the Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and Earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

We Are Reformed

We believe the central doctrines that were the basis of the Protestant Reformation:

  • We are saved by grace alone: Salvation is by God’s grace, not through any merit on our part
  • We are saved through faith alone: We are justified only through faith in Christ, not by any good works we could do.
  • Our faith is in Christ alone: Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man.
  • Scripture alone is an infallible guide for faith and practice.
  • We seek to live all of life to the glory of God alone.

As a church of the International Presbyterian Church, Faith’s pastors hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith as an accurate summary of what the Bible teaches.
